Texas boaters,<br />I'm heading to PK the first week of august.<br /><br />I have only been to PK once and it was in someone elses boat who new the lake.<br /><br />The wife and I are making it a weekend with out the kids.<br /><br />Here is my question:<br /><br />We are staying at a place called the "sandbar". It came highly recommended from a neighbor who use to have a cabin on PK.<br /><br />But he hasnt been there in years.<br /><br />The time I went to PK the guy who took me brought me to a place called "Hells Gate".<br /><br />A Great party spot.<br /><br />Anyone who frequents PK knows of this spot.<br /><br />Does anyone out there know how close the sandbar is to hells gate? <br /><br />I hear that it is close but I am looking for something a little more specific.<br /><br />Any help would be appreciated. <br /><br />Thanks,<br />boatingfool

Yeah its sandypoint I think.. Great spot hellgate is a short ride. Nice new marina around the corner. They had golden alge up there earliear this year but ive heard its cleared out. TRY scubapoint best clearwater in north texas.

The place I am staying is definately called the sandbar.<br /><br />Maybe it is located on sandypoint??

Probably off sandy point. I hope I remember its name right havent been there in years. Its a big pennisula covered with cabins and campgrounds. Go to inspiration point and look at the fish at the dam its pretty cool.They release trout below the dam. Not sure the season though.

Thats a great Idea.. My family needs a vacation. probably later in AUG. Im going to PK. My favorite thing, years ago when my daughter was young, was to look at the stars from up there... ITS Unbeleivable...

I found a map that shows the sandbar, Is this where you were thinking??<br /><br />

boatingfool,<br />speaking of pictures, what happened to the rest of the ct.vacation pictures? the light houses, and you and rose with your fish,and what ever else you have.still waiting to see them back at boatingabc. i'll check tomorrow to see if they are there.

Yep thats it, might want to check out scuba point while your there, havent dove there but they say its nice. Let us know..

Great to see other TX boaters on here I spend alot of time at Posseum Kingdom and Lake Brownwood both about the same drive form Abilene TX, where are you guys from?

Boatingfool:<br />Wish I would have read your note earlier. We spent the first week in August at PK too. We stayed in cabins at the State Park. We had a great time. It was a hot week though wasn't it?<br />I would imagine we crossed each others wake at some point during the week.<br />Hope you had as much fun as we did. I had a tough time going back to work.
