Post your DIY mods.

I have a 18ft ski boat, and im looking for ideas for DIY mods. Things that look cool, or make it more useable.

I want to add some LED strips in the gunnel pockets, but we never use the boat after dark, so I'm looking for some other stuff to do over the winter. Window tint is another idea, but that isnt really a DIY thing.

Anyone have any good ones?

the completed projects forum is full of them bud.....

in short.....its your boat...you can do anything you want to it.

one way i do it......is to sit in the boat with a case of beer.......and go on an imaginary boating trip..... the new ideas just come to me.......and the next morning....the ones i remember.....happen !

I agree with opps. Though I have done alot of things to my boat, they were all done to improve the boat and make it more enjoyable while boating. Only you can decide what is good for you. I have installed the led lighting, among lots of other things, but they all have a purpose, not just to be cool.

Also, keep in mind, if you tint the windows or have them tinted, it can effect your driving vision.

Before doing mods, spend some time going through all the preventative maintenance items. They'll pay back way more than the mods. If you already are up to date on all those items, then mod away.

That is one awesome idea. I'm gonna call some friends and sit in my boat that is in the pole barn, have some beers and try this!

Oh yeah, it's an excuse to #1 be out of the house and #2 have some friends over and #3 drink some beer. Great idea lol

Be careful about # of people in the boat on the trailer. The weight distribution will be different setting on bunks or rollers than being on the water. You'd be bent if you cracked the gelcoat or put weak spots in your hull.

This makes me think of all the modded out cars ($2k+ wheels, $4k+ paint jobs, fart-can exhausts, $1k+ sound systems, etc.) that are broken down on the side of the road.

Depends on the size of the boat. I have a 21 ft over 3000 lb boat on an extra long trailer (29 ft). I do hear ya though

I already have the list, and have started picking up parts for the maintenance items. I know those have to be done.

Window tint is another idea, but that isnt really a DIY thing.

Window tint is super easy to do. I've tinted 20+ vehicles and a few boats. Look on Youtube for recommendations, follow manufacturers instructions, and DON'T try to do it if it's the least bit windy. It's super easy, I promise!
