i am currently restoring a boat and have ripped out all the carpet from my boat.
all that is left is the fiberglass floor. Now i am contemplating what probably many others are contemplating, whether or not to recarpet, or apply no-skid.
I was hoping to see your boat's floor, and see what you guys did.

I am leaning towards the no-skid because i do alot of fishing but i have no idea what the finished product looks like.

whether it be carpet or no-skid post it here.
-with a detail of what you used and approx. cost.

I think it will be extremely helpful not only to me but to all in the forum :D

You can look on my link, there may be a pic close enough. I used Evercoat No-Skid, $40 a gallon, I used 1 gallon, and it gave me two coats. The boat is 17 feet. I have three seasons on it with no sign of wear, and I have spilled everything on it with no degradation. Good product...

I also have been contemplating Evercoat’s Skid-No-More. To test the product I rebuilt the wood seats on my kids swing-set, and covered the seats in Skid-No-More. I live in the Phoenix AZ area where summer temperatures can be as high as 117 degrees. So that my lawn survives the heat my grass is watered with an automatic sprinkler system twice a day. The swing sits in full sun and gets soaked each time the sprinklers come on. After inspecting the seats from a full summer of exposure I cannot see any fading of the natural gray color, and the material seems to be in good shape. Since the product was developed primarily for marine use, I am now leaning toward using it on my boat floor. I know my test did not take place in a marine environment, but I did consider the test environment fairly harsh, and satisfactory for testing purposes. The only thing missing in my test is foot traffic. Evercoat’s Skid-No-More only comes in basic gray, but the label says it can be tinted using any exterior latex paint. Since I would tint to match my boat interior I am a bit concerned that the tint will eventually fade with UV exposure.

Sorry for not having pictures, but I thought I would add my $0.02 about Evercoat.

Re: post your floor here!

For mine, I rolled gelcoat on with a blue foam texture roller cut down too 4inches.... You kinda have to stay with it until the gelcoat starts to kick to keep the texture from going too flat....

One could also add sand to the finish for added "no-skid" effect, if one so desired...

After the gelcoat cured, I knocked down any high or sharp spots with a DA sander and a light touch...

Later on, I opted to roll on a thin coat of white paint (rustoleum) to protect from stains (fish blood, scuffs, ect.)

Cost for materials was about $40 for a gallon of gelcoat, + the cost of rollers... EDIT.. add $10 bucks for a quart of paint..

http://www.myfishingpictures.com/watermark.php?file=500/1189motor_s_in.jpg best pic i have of the floor..

awesome, i am definitely leaning towards the no-skid (not sure which brand to use yet) since this boat is primarily for fishing. i would love to use the nautolex but my pockets are a bit shallow. obviously everyone wants the best bang for the buck and especially if you're still in school, which i am

Before spring I'm going to go with the Evercote Skid No More. Since I'm using the boat for fishing, I can't see paying $100 a gallon for something when I can pay $29 gallon for a non skid floor that's been tested by one of our "I Boat" posters. I bought 2 gallons, which I'm sure is probably overkill, and am looking forward to having my floor look as good as JasonJ's.
