Re: Power Boat with for trolling??

My 2 cents.
No way I'd buy new in that size in this market. There are ALLOT of hurting people/dealers out there that want to unload lightly used boats and the payments that come with them. Buying slightly used also gets you all the "add ons" that add up to big $ but arn't usually part of new packages. i.e. anchors, fenders, life jackets, upgraded electronics, safety equip, etc.

Regardless of brand, I would suggest a Walk Around Cuddy style for your purpose. It gives you safe/friendly 360 deg access to the boat for fighting fish, setting anchors etc. If it were me, I'd put a WTB add in the local Craigs List and check online with dealers within 100 mi. Don't worry about researching a brand name once you find a steal . Then research specifics to that brand. ( SOme of the better/more popular names have been mentioned but there are ALLOT more.) Freshwater boats tend to age slower than their SW cousins so your area should have some really nice stuff available.

As an aside, my buddy bought a brand new $42K, 21' namebrand boat package last year and now can't afford it. Per his research, he's "upsidedown" in the boat and will be lucky to get $28K in todays glutted market after just 1 year. OUCH!

Take a look at some of the older Pursuits - say the 2350 or 24 models. Seems to fit your needs to a tee. Tough, heavy and damn near indestructible.

Re: Power Boat with for trolling??

Ive had a walkaround for the past 20 years, dont need it for the boating i do. BUt i would like a boat where i can seat 5 comfortably but still be able to mount some riggers and troll. Power and speed is a must. Never have had a boat that will do more than 40mph and would like some speed this time around. Im willing to go used. under 24'. Hydra-sport makes a nice one ... 2200VX. would like more room for seating though.

keep the options coming.

thanks guys!!
