It has always been a problem but now its getting worse. What happens is when I nail the throttle its bogging and when plained out I am loosing about 400 to 700 rpms. Worse after a good 10min beat run. The strange thing is when I am plained out going about 4200 rpm throttle to the max, all of the sudden out of the blue she kicks in and I can reach 4700 rpms somtimes. Which in my heavy I.M.P that makes a big diff in top end speed. I was adjusting the needles while out today and no change. Think Im on the right track? The other thing is my coil is getting hot. I chaned from points to electric last year. Do You think it could be lack of spark. I have spent way to much money in the past year on this old boat. New motor, outdrive rebuilt, alt, plugs, flywheel, electic ign, coil, flushed fuel tank, took carb apart today to clean. Found no water in carb bowl and all ports free and clean. (rockchester 2bbl) This is a daily issue not due to taking on water or heavy loads. Power comes and goes. Summer just started and Im ready for dry dock already. Please help!

Just for fun, disconnect the tach and see what happens. Bad tachs can cause this problem.

its funny u say that cause when I do have tack connected coil seems to run hotter than normal. But even when tack not connected still has bogging problem. Unles tacked ruined another coil. What do You think?

it won't ruin the coil.
