Power for a "Mini" Pontoon?

I have on order a 713-Tiller (model) Gill Getter Pontoon Boat. My lake is small and has a no gasoline motor restriction. I did not buy an electric motor for it yet as I am confused about what will work both well and economically for me.
My first decision appears to be transom (rear) or deck (front) mount. After that comes how to steer and which brand. The reviews that I can find speak well of variable speed (Traxxis/Varimax). The use will be mostly bluegill fishing, no trolling, some drifting. The lake is maybe 40 acres in size.Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance, Wayne

The Torquedo is an electric outboard, I ahve seen them but don't know much about them but certainly worth a look and Motorguide and Minn Kota both make wireless trolling motors that have hand held remotes and wireless foot pedals so you can run them from anywhere in the boat.

I have the 55lb Motorguide and love it, with the hand held remote it is great.

My motor wouldn't start recently and I had to troll 3 miles up stream against the wind adn it made and that was on one battery, if you had a 2 battery set up you could go all day.

X2 for what 5150 said. I have a Minnkota 55 pound auto pilot on my 19 foot pontoon and I can troll all day on a fresh charge to one group 27 battery. The transom mount electric units are so very pricey I think I would take $700 instead of $1200 and buy a remote controlled pontoon specific troller and be done with it. If you get one of the hand held remotes controls ($150 option) you can sit and run the boat from anywhere.

I had the electric steer Motorguide 55 on an earlier boat and liked it as much or more than my current Minnkota. If I was buying new I would probably get the Motorguide.

The Motorguide pontoon mount can not be beat for a pontoon boat trolling motor mount, the motor mounts in a 1/2 minute and comes off just as quickly to be stowed.

Actually I just replaced a remote that got tossed overboard, they look like they float but don't, and it was $46 here at iboats.
