Power hera exchange Help.

I have74-76 85 HP Merc. Sel# 4295564 and I want to know if a 80 HP 70-72 powerhead will exchange? Check the book and everything looks the same. Any help out there? Thanks Erine God Bless d

They are both battery CD so that should not be a problem and if you are going to exchange complete assms. (carbs. and dist.linkages and that sort of stuff) It shouldn't be a problem, Carbs use differant jets and I tink the timing is differant

Any concerns from the exhaust profile at the mid-section Laddies? I know for the L6 motors, that 72/73 timeframe was a transitional period. Just curious if the 4cyl had similar design changes.

As long as they use the same gasket it should not be a problem
