'71 Evinrude 50hp mod #50173S ser #E03017 The engine cuts out at 3/4 to wot as if I turned the ignition key off after running for sevral minutes at wot with no apparent problems. There is no hesitation, coughing, or sputtering (not fuel starvation?)before the engine cuts out. The engine starts, idles, and runs low rpm fine. Where do I start? Is this electrical (coil, plug) or fuel (carb, tank, hoses?)

Well, you can check the fuel aspect real easy by giving the carb(s) a shot of premix, when it's dying, using a squirt bottle. If it's getting fuel, (from the squirt bottle) and still dies, ignition would be the next thing to check. The list of possible ignition failures is long so your best bet is aquire an engine manual and follow the trouble shooting procedures.

c/6

Hooty
