power loss

my 50 hp johnson jet falls flat on its face when trying to exceed 4,000 rpm, the engine runs good at idle and low rpm . if i use the enricher the engine runs good for a few seconds. both carburetors have been rebuilt and the linkage and sparkplugs are ok . anyone have any ideas?

u say after 4000 it just stops
try timing or the high speed is not set right

If when you hit the primer and the engines rpm's rise above 4K.....sounds like to me you've still got dirty carbs or you have an air leak in a fuel line.

Edit: Have you tried squeezing the primer bulb at 4k to see if the engine will pick up?
