hello everyone. i have a '90 mercury 150 xr4. doing my spring maintenance and noticed the white jumper wire that connects my two power packs is swollen. obviously the wire got too warm and began to melt insulation, but it didn't melt. the wire insulation is really soft and loose on the wire now. engine seems to run fine, i will test it out this weekend. i was just wondering if this is a sign of maybe needing new power packs soon? or maybe change the wire? or just leave it alone if it ain't broke yet? thanks.

Re: power pack?

The older insulation is prone to breaking down. As long as the engine is running well, I would just make a new jumper wire and install it.

Hot wires or melted wire can be caused by a bad ground somewhere.????
