power pak question for a 1969 115 jonny

hi everyone heres a question for ya....have a 1969 115 jonny with a 1971 power pak on it(checked part#)(4 wire)pak went so i orderd a new one ,the one that came in has 6 wires on it.i couldnt understand the wire diagram they gave and cant get a sprk...my question is can i just order another 1971 pak and use that without hurting anything?the 4 wire on is easy to hook up and a little cheaper!!any help would be great thanks....

The 1969 pulse pac has 4 wires + any ground wires The 1971 has 5 wires + any grounds. The difference is in the way the reverse cut-out switch is wired. If it were me, I'd use the correct one (4-wire for 1969)

fr,thanks for the reply,the # on the power pak(OLD)says its for the 71 eng it came of a 1971 its been on the eng (1969)for 3 seasons,id rather run with the 4 wire cause i know how to wire it hahaha thanks for the reply looks like ill send the other one back and get the four wire one.....
