Power Pilot Problem!

Okay guys. A 1973 Rude 85HP with matching Power Pilot Control Box. Heres the story. At the end of last summer I started to notice that every once in a while the motor would be in a slow foreword motion, even though it was in neutral or reverse. I thought no biggie. Winterized it, took it out june 1 and started up fine, and reverse worked like it is supposed to. Got it out in the middle of the lake and got it up to full throttle. Cruising for about 15 seconds when it just started running high, but no speed. Went to move the control arm, and it would not budge. The "warm up lever" was stuck up. so I figure that was why I could not move it.
I then took it home and removed the cover of the box. With the cover off, I saw that I had full motion on the arm. Easy to move. (almost as if the cover was what was impeding it's motion) Started the motor with the cover off the box, and it was as if the "warm up lever" was up whether it was up or down. Making the motor run high, and not having much if any foreword motion. Any help or ideas would be GREATLY appreciated. Let me know if you have ay more questions.

Are the control cabes moving the linkages in the engine? Back to their stops and full advance stops?

Tested them out today... When I lift the warm up lever, NO linkage moves. When I give it throttle, the linkage moves about alf way, then will not move anymore. So it moves until the arm is about alf way down, but when I put it all the way down, the linkage stops moving. Any ideas anyone?

You should not be able to move the main control lever out of neutral while the warm-up lever is raised. Only after the warm-up lever is all the way down, can you move the main lever, shifting it out of neutral, and produce prop rotation and boat movement. If yours operates differently, something is worn out or broken within the control. I don't know what that something is. You are the guy on site and will have to look and see.
