Helping out a friend with his 2003 EFI 5.0 with Alph Gen2....Finally got it running and cooling ok. Was idling great on hose. We never gave it any throttle just idle and idle rpm seemed fine.

We decided to turn the wheel to test the Steering, and rpms dropped and it died. Started up and tries to die unless some throttle is applied. If we turn the wheel again, it certainly wants to idle low and try to die unless we keep it rev'd some. Whats the interaction with the steering?

The shift cables as well as the steering gear looks fine, nothing rubbing, pulling etc.

They just by chance turned the steering wheel, and rpms dropped and it died. Started up and tries to die unless some throttle is applied. If we turn the wheel again, it certainly wants to idle low and try to die unless we keep it rev'd some.

While the PS does put more load on the engine, the amount of load is not much. I think you have other issues going on. Your probably running in a lean condition and therefore check your fuel system, pump, filter and pressure

I would look at the IAC valve, sounds like its not cycling correctly and on its way out.

IAC..done them on cars, wasnt sure they were on this...Could be, seems like the symptom. It just started as we tested the P.Steering. Maybe coincidence. more testing this weekend.
