re: My 1987 Sea Ray Seville w/ Mercrusier 3.0L Alpha One Drive

I've noticed lately the power steering is rough. In other words when I turn the wheel it doesn't always turn smoothly. Upon start-up the belts squeal loudly at low RPM's and then it disappears once the boat is on plane. The rough steering is an issue at any speed. I've applied belt setting spray and have topped up the PS fluid with no change. The alternator voltage is always steady @ 14+ volts. Is it a belt tension problem? Both belts were replaced last fall. Any other thoughts on what this may be or what I can do to solve the problem?

Turns out it was the belt slipping. I soaked the PS belt in belt setting spray and problem solved. Not sure if I have the wrong size belt or not. Lots of belt particles laying around in the engine compartment.
