power surge in a 90 johnson

I have a 92 Johnson 90 hp. I have noticed that it surges..faster! all seems normal.. then the motor seems to smooth out even more, like it is getting short power burst?.. you feel it surge foward and then back to normal ...maybe normal is the split second surge.. ???? It appears to be hard on fuel now. One guy told me it is the motor cavitating...sucking air?

All new to me ... any input would be appreciated

i suggest you check spark, on all four. you may have one that is firing occasionally, not running all the time. also could be a fuel restriction, check and see what your spark plugs look like.

Don't believe it is cavatation.
