I have a Mercury Thunderbolt 650cc 1970 model with tilt and trim and i am tihnking of buying an old 1250cc Same year model i believe for $150 (USD) but it has no tilt and trim though the motor has good compression (round 145 on each cylinder give or take 3) The motor just needs electrical rewired a bit etc...... It comes with a new lower unit which cost $250 to

Just wondering would i hbe able to use the tilt and trim from the 650 to the 1250 as it looks like the same attachment just a matter of mounting it.. I can't fork out another $300 on a used tilt and trim :/

If you are talking about the tilt and trim which has rams that attach to the outside of the motor, I believe you can use it. The one I put on my 1967 650 came off a 1070 115hp. It works great.
Good luck.

If your T/T has two big rams that bolt to the transom of the boat and to the motor, then yes they are interchangeable until Merc went to the wider transom clamp and integrated PT/T with either two little rams or one big ram between the motor and the clamp.

Craig
