Power tilt on motor that never had it...

This might be a stupid idea, but has anyone ever successfully made a non power tilt motor power tilt?

Is there a kit you can buy, or any good ideas on how to possibly start from scratch.

I don't know if this is the best idea, or even worth my time, but sure would be nice if pulling up to a shallow bank to not have to break my back lifting a heavy motor to get the prop away from the bottom!

P.S. It's an older (1968) Merc 950

I think I found one, but looks like it's nearly $800... does this sound like a decent price?

If this is about average, I'll probably hold off until I get a motor that already has it!

Sure its possible. I have a 1970 Merc 800 that I put power trim on this past summer.

Shopped around and found a good used unit for $200. Install is quite simple and takes a couple hours.

Awesome, there is a chance!
I guess I'll just slow down and shop for a while.
Definitely will be a bonus for me. Too heavy of motor to be lifting all the time!

It sure can! I did it to my '69 800. Scrounced around eBay and found most of what I needed. Get yourself a OEM manual. I rebuilt mine, put all new seals in. The manual was helpful. :)
