Bad connections. Try cleaning all the spades on the plug. Also clean your battery ground to engine block.

I had an intermittent tilt problem.
Replaced the relay, worked for a little while then I had problems again.

Different motor but the idea is still the same:

I used something to hold the tilt switch in the down position(thats the direction it would not go).

Wiggled the wires going into the relay one at a time until the tilt started to work.
I found my bad connection, repaired it, and all has been well ever sinse.

Good Luck! :)

Hi, Does it work in one direction and not the other? Or not at all? There is a fuse in the circuit, junction box or on the motor(little red football looking thing). Where is the switch? On control or dash. If it's on the controls, There is a connector outside the control box. side mount has it coming out the bottom of the shift lever, binnacle mount has it coming out under the console. There are three wires in the connector. check to see if the terminals are clean. At this connector you can jump the red wire to one of the other wires to see if the switch is bad. Red to blue goes up, red to green goes down. If jump the wires and it works, bad switch. If not working, check small round five wire connector coming out og junction box for clean terminals, also check the larger green and blue wire connector from junction box to the tilt unit. If you power the larger green and blue wires, one positive and one negative the tilt motor should run, blue pos goes up, green pos goes down. If nothing happens when these wires are powered, tilt motor is bad. ;)
