I finally got my 78 GW Pacer (Mercruiser 470) in the water Saturday after it spent 5 weeks in a shop having all sorts of engine/OD service (I'm no longer physically capable of doing the heavy stuff:blue
. Took the wife out on Saturday for her (wife's) maiden voyage on a local lake and the boat ran great. Had social commitments Sunday and didn't get out on the boat, but while we were out the guy that's renting me dock space called and said that the boat was leaking a small amount of oil into the water. I went to the boat this morning, and sure enough, there was a light sheen. Opened the engine compartment and saw tilt system oil in the bilge. So I pulled the boat out and brought it home to work on. I discovered oil leaking from the bottom of the pump reservoir, but I can't tell if it's a hydraulic line or a seal on the bottom of the reservoir. Pulled the trim pump out and I'll probably replace the gaskets on the bottom to be safe. I've also ordered new hydraulic lines (three of them) going from the pump to the reverse lock valve (1), from the reverse lock to the transom manifold (2), and from the pump to the transom manifold (3).
My question is: in order to remove the two lines going to the transom manifold, it is necessary to pull the drive from the gimbal and pull the transom plate in order to access the lines inside the boat?
