I have a CMC pt-130 tilt & trim unit on my 17 footer with an 88 special mounted on it.I'm concerned about stress on the transom while trailering. Is it best to tilt the motor all the way up ,then bump it down a notch to take pressure off the cylinder?I've also seen "transom savers" which clip on the hudrauilc cylinder so the ram isn't taking all the load.Do these truly work??Thanks in advance all!!! This is a GREAT forum.

I use a transom saver that goes from the lower unit to the back roller on the trailer just under the back of the boat then lower the trim to remove the pressure off the tilt. This is also would remove a lot of trailering stress of the transom.
