Motor is a 1989 Johnson 88 SPL. While demonstrating my newly installed TNT to my Dad, I momentarily (and I mean a split second) reversed the battery cables (it was dark). When I hooked them up right the power TNT wouldn't work. The relays just click. I swapped in new relays and found a fuse under the cowl that was blown and replaced it. Still nothing. Relays still click. When I run a jumper from the battery to the motor it works fine. Am i missing a fuse somewhere? Thanks.

If you just installed this t/t unit i would go over the wiring again and look for a loose connection. You could also now a bad rectifeir from hooking up the battery backwards.

Would the rectifier effect the TNT? Was working perfectly before the screw up. Thanks

Just goes to show you shsould always start with the simplest thing first. Cleaned the connections at the terminal bar and it started working again. Motor started and ran fine so can I assume the rectifier is OK? Thanks

The rectifier is for charging your battery and also powers your tach if you have one. You can check your battery charging by taking a volt reading across your battery before you start the engine and then take a reading after the engine is running; if no voltage increase your rectifier is fried and will need to be replaced. If you have a tach the needle will be all over the dial when the engine is running if the rectifier is gone. Good luck.

Normally if the rectifier is bad the tach just doesn't work. Do as Will says and check your battery voltage both shut off and running.
