Power Trailer Winches

Just curious about y'all's opinions. Which brand is the best? I have been switching from one boat to the other (don't use 2 boats at the same time), but I thought I might buy a second one just to minimize the hassle.

I would highly recommend a Rule winch if they hadn’t discontinued the product line.

I installed a Rule 4200R in 2001. It’s still going strong but parts Support is limited.

I’ve been looking for a replacement for a while. Checked most of the major suppliers. Can’t find anything to come close to the Rule pulling power w/o going to a double line. I run out a patients waiting on the Rule to retrieve. Couldn’t imagine doubling that time.


If the Rule died today I’d probably go with the Powerwich 912 for parts availability, maybe even an Warn automotive winch.

I'm surprized at the lack of comments. Usually everyone has an opinion.

I was in the market for a new winch and that's why I posted the question. A while ago someone commented about winches and I recommended a Powewinch brand, which is all I ever had. I got blasted for that cheap brand, and someone recommended a better one. Unfortunately, I can't remember which thread it was.

Anywhoot, just installed a 912 and boy it works nice.
