I am trying to locate parts to install power tilt and trim on my two 1978 70HP Johnsons. They are Models 70EL78C. I have been getting conflicting stories as to whether this is possible to do. I would like to use used Johnson parts. I will appreciate any comments from readers who have done this or can offer advice.

The part number for the kit was 173565. This kit fits outside of the engine transom brackets. I have not seen one on ebay.

It can be done but it will get expensive. Even a good used T/T assy will cost $400.00 do you have the trim/tilt switches and wiring to go with it?

To Master Tech

The boat now has only mechanical adjustment made out of the water. There are no switches, wiring, etc.
