I have a 1980 85hp Seahorse Johnson. The motor is stuck in the upright position. When I push the trim up or down switch I hear the trim motor run but the large center post does not move up or down. Any suggestions on what I can check to determine the cause?

Thanks, Mark

Open up the manual release valve 2 turns and see what happens.

UnfotunatelynI know very little about the power tilt. Where would I find the manual release valve?

It's in a recess in the lower side of the starboard engine bracket. There's a slotted screw in a recess - turn with a fat screwdriver. You may need a wrench on the screwdriver handle to move it.

Make sure your pump reservoir is full of fluid. Low fluid can lock the operation one way. If low fluid, then internal seals leaking and rebuild is fix.
