Hello- a total newbie dealing with power trim issuess... working perfect all season-then nothing yesterday.
No clicking of the relays either. I hot-wired the trim motor and it worked perfectly. I replaced the relays - of course no go. I put a volt meter on the blue/green leads, nothing. The 10 amp fuse attached to trim motor assembly is good.

I tried to follow wiring back but it falls into the abyss of the back of the engine and I need to be a contortionist to get back there to see if any connections are bad. Nothing in entire engine compartment is corroded, so I doubt the problem. Could it be the trim switch on the throttle???
Took it apart, no corrosion. Was told by my local Volvo Penta parts dept. friend it's rare for that switch to go bad. But possible.

What should I try next??? do no want to spend hundreds having mechanic trace a wiring issue... any tips? Help!

Thanks much!

I hope this helps but I had nearly the same problem on my 4.3GL the hydraulic pump went out after our first tube on the 4th of july we looked at everything. the driver seat had been turned by one of the kids and pressed up on the trim switch with the music going I didn't hear it running it probably was pressed for 5+ minutes, i was certain it was burned out, we checked all the wiring as you describe, finally traced the wires back to a box that was on top of the motor with a big red button. I pressed it, it hardly made a sound but i went straight back to the trim switch and ta-da it started working, it was a bummer we didn't try it at the lake, wasted a whole day and had to drive back to the dock with the trim all the way up. no fun...

THANKS Jess! I will search for that button. Not sure I remember seeing anything like that on my engine, but will contort and dive into compartment and look. I kept thinking it had to be a simple issue, like a fuse or HOPEFULLY now, the red breaker button. Everything else was in order, so I was dreading trying to find that "unkown" source of the issue and it costing $$$ to do so. I will check it out after work!

Thanks for your quick response!

Much appreciated!

If you dont have the reset button (which I don't think you will on an 04 model), check out this thread especially post #14. Your trim circuit should closely resemble the picture, and the walkthrough might help you find the cause of your problem.

Thanks very much Skydive- what an awesome thread- the info is great. GOD BLESS DON S.!!!!
I will study that and go through the motions on it. Hopefully it's not gonna be one of those PITA & time consuming repairs that turns out to simply be a damaged wire or corroded connection!

Much appreciated!
