My power trim motor on my 1986 Mercury 50hp(serial number, 0A981559) is toast. I am having a lot of trouble finding the same one. I can not find a part number on the motor housing anywhere. Wondering if anyone could help point me in the right direction. Thanks

crowleymarine says that have the complete PTT pump. Price is $800+

ARCO used to make a replacement PTT pump and top of reservoir assembly. like that one. I would check there. Make sure it matches your unit exactly.

In what way is the motor toasted? Did it short out and smoke or just stop working? I ask that because if the problem is just that it doesn't work it might be due to worn brushes that could possibly be replaced. For an experiment try tapping on the side of the motor while pushing the switch, if it starts working it could just need a new set of brushes that likely could be sourced from your local starter/alternator repair shop to get you back on the water.

I took mine apart and cleaned up the 40 years of carbon accumulation, it runs fine now. Might be worth a shot.
