Power trim questions...

I searched the forum and know how to flush the system. Question is the pump (SAEJ1171) runs but the drive does not move at all. Its in the up position now. The fluid was a mix of water and oil. I would think it should still pump right? Even a water mix should still move the rams. <br /><br />My question is does this sound like the problem is with the pump or the rams. I have a part boat here with a working trim and don't want to swap what I don't need to. Well,..................<br /><br />You have Several Issues going on,......<br /><br />If you plan to FIX the Trim System,....... Each Issue will lead to the Next Issues repair......<br /><br />1)......Disconnect the Trim Lines from the Rams..........<br /><br />2)...... Remove the Rams........<br /><br />By Now,.... <br />You'll Know whether it's Stuck in the Up position because of the Pump, or the Rams,...... Or the Gimbel Housing.......<br /><br />3)....... Manually cycle the Rams,... In,+ Out.....By now you've pumped all the oil out of the Rams,... <br />Keep doing it til they're Empty of Oil.......<br /><br />4)......... Point the Trim Lines that you removed from the Rams Into a bucket,...... <br />Power the Pump,+ Notice Which Lines are puking Oil, in Each Direction.............<br />While you're doing This,..... Keep Pouring Fresh Oil into the Reservoir.......<br />After you've run a Quart or 2 of Fresh Oil thru it,... It should be Spraying a Good stream of Clean Oil,......<br /><br />5)........ Reinstall Everything.......... Cycle the Outdrive, Up,+ Down 10 or 15 Times,......<br />Top off the Oil,+ You're Done..........<br /><br />Ohhh,... #6)........ GREASE Everything ,.... So it Doesn't do this Again.................. <br /><br />PS)........ That's done Inside the transom, at the Bullet Connectors,....... <br />Usually because the Limit Switch is Junk, or the Wires Rotted Off.....

Well replaced the rams today off mu other boat and put 6 qts through it and works great!<br /><br />Thanks!<br /><br />PS: any ckue what wires?

The Black 1s that come thru the transom plate.....
