I have a 1986 evinrude 110hp. It had no power trim.I bought an evinrude power trim set up for it with out any controls. It has 2 wires coming out of it. A blue one and a green one. If I put the green wire on the + of battery and blue on - the trim moves up. When I flip the wires the trim moves down. I bought a 12volt motor reversing contactor from Surplus Center item #11-3169-12 and hooked it up to 2 separate push buttons. It worked great for about 10 boat trips. Finally the salt water splash got to it and ruined it. I'm looking for a relay and switch that is made for this kind of set up that is saltwater proof. All the sites I looked at have relays but I don't know which to get cause the motor and power trim didn't come together.

Re: power trim relay

How about using just a single DPDT Center OFF, Heavy Duty Switch. Very simple to wire and operate. ;)

I don't want to have to run big gauge wires up to my dash board if I don't have to.

Why not buy the box & relays that belongs on there? Very simple to install and it'll look factory.

I want to get the factory stuff but I'm not sure what to get cause my trim didn't come with my motor.

On your exhaust cover on the powerhead - at the top, are there 2 threaded bosses?

I don't see any threaded bosses. The engine is a 1986 110 hp vro model# e11omlcdc serial # r1308421. It is the bubble back style. Extremely difficult to put thermostats in.

Bummer. On some later models they put the relay box right above the bubble but you need those two threaded bosses. Makes for a real neat installation. Some early exhaust plates had the bosses and just never used them.

Yes there is 2 threaded bosses right on top of the bubble. They are about 6 inches apart.

Ah, they magically appeared! That's great. Look at the parts book and if I remember correctly you can buy the box as an assembly.
