I am trying to replace my power trim and tilt unit. Can anyone suggest the best means to remove the stainless pins (3/4 - 1 inch thick) ? they seem to be frozen ? I have already removed the horseshoe clips :)....I have used and impact gun and a hammer thus far and have been unsuccessful.

I am nervous about heat, as I do not want to damage the aluminum housing that they go through.

What year motor is this? Are you referring to the pivot pin? They can sometimes be difficult. You will need a good penetrating oil, and a heavy hammer and punch. Oil it, hit, oil hit, etc... I had one take me 3 days :) The good news is once you get it moving, it goes easier. Some heat the housing with a torch, thus expanding it, causing the pin to slide easier.
