Hi,

I have an 87 200 yami and got home from fishing when my power trim failed--
I checked the fluid on the pump starboard side and it had plenty-- I hear a clicking noise coming from the engine when i hit either up/down on the trim switch on the remote control throttle box..
The motor has alot of rust on the side to the point where i can touch the magnet ...

It was working fine until this past week--

Any ideas would help-- Also Yamaha wants $500 for motor--any ideas where i can get an after market motor?

Thanks in advance
Bill.

Cheapest I have found for an aftermarket pump is around 200.00. This site has the yamaha original stator for about 70.00. If the rust is so bad you can see the magnets, you may not have enough left to use the new stator though. Google trim motor and you will get quite a few options. Good luck.

take the top off the trim motor and see if the brush springs are rotten if they are replace after the water has been drained and dried, replaced mine with springs out of a voltage reg for a delco alternator. seal motor with silly cone and call it a day

Thanks for the info guys. but i had to replace the entire trim pump-- it was
rusted out pretty bad -- only problem was getting it out-- there is one bolt towards the back against the engine bracket which is not accessible-- had
to break (yikes!!) the mount on the motor-- thankfully nothing else broke and I managed to put a new motor in--worked like a champ--BTW got it from ARCO marine electrical -- !!

Thanks again
Bill.
