power trim

An easy question I think. After I accelerate with the motor trimmed all the way down, I can trim it up fine, all works well. When I'm slowing down I can't trim it up. It's like the trim is slipping or something but the motor will not trim up until I'm at idle then it works fine again. Is this how power trim works?

Re: power trim

Don't know what kind of boat you have, but it sounds like you may have a belt slipping that drives your pump, and when you have the motor revved, there's enough grab to drive the pump, but when the motor slows down the belt slips and the pump can't produce enough pressure for the trim to operate properly.

Try tightening the belt or get a new one.

Re: power trim

This is a 2002 115 outboard with hydraulic trim. I don't think there is a belt. Thanks for your help, sorry for lack of info.
