I am trying to start my boat and the out drive is the the trailer position i guess anyway it is trimmed all the way up and it will not go down all i get when i press the trim is a loud click from what sounds to be the hydro pump for the trim. and is there any safety thing that will not let the motor start when it is trimmed all the way up?? any help would be greatly appreciated and i am working on a 3.7l mercruiser i know this motor is a @@#$@ and hard to find parts and work on

Yes!!! It puts a great strain on the drive U-joints when it is all the way up. Do not start it. If you really need to start it remove the trim cylinders at the motor end and lower it down. Careful it is heavy.

It sounds like you may have a bad trim pump solenoid. Does the pump run when you push the trailer button? Locate the two trim pump solenoids. Locate the green/white (down) motor lead. Jumper between the g/w motor terminal and the + terminal. Does the motor run? Be careful the outdrive may go down.

Re: Power Trim?

Sorry misunderstood:confused:. DO NOT start the motor with the drive all the way up! Try bypassing the down solenoid like I said to see if you can get the trim motor to run the outdrive down.
