power trim

help how do i chang the fluid on a power trim unit its the old style on a 1977 johnson 55hp do i pump it in the bottom untill it comes out the side like a lower unit i wish i could put a picture i don no how thank for looking if you can send a picture

Im not sure how close your motors T/T is to my design, but on my 1982 75 HP Evinrude there is a screw on the starboard side plate where the motor mounts to the transom. Look there. I know on my motor once you pull the screw out all the fluid should flow out. Make sure you check the O-Ring on this screw and replace it if it is worn or torn in any way, otherwise the T/T will leak fluid under pressure and may suck in air.
