So on my 1996 wellcraft excel 21sl boat my trim gauge doesn't work. I noticed when I did my bellows and gimbal bearing last week there was this electrical device on 1 side of my outdrive. I believe that is my trim sender. Where the wires go into it the rubber around the 2 little wires is split and cracked. So does this mean that's my problem and water got in it and stopped it from working. I rather ask on here before I go out and start buying different parts I don't need. Or could my gauge be bad,or a bad wire or ground or fuse.again I rather ask the questions now before I start replacing parts I don't need to replace. Thank you dan

Trim gauge sender is on starboard side
Trim limit sender is on port side

The trim senders go bad and wires crack. Loosen the screws, turn key ON and rotate the sender to see gauge move. It it doesn't then it can be the sender or gauge.

The limit wires go to the trim pump. Find those then find the other 2 wires which look the same, those will be the gauge. Take the gauge wires a ground them to see if it pegs
