I just bought a boat that is going to be my restoration/money wasting project for the next couple months!

The problem is, I have never heard of the boat that I own! I have attached a photo to this post so you can take a look at her.

She is a 1979 23 foot Powercat. It is a single hull, not a "cat" hull and it came with a 225 Evinrude Ocean Pro with a new powerhead as well as the twin axle Rolls Trailer. The boat is great and we love it, except for the fact that it needs a total "redo"

I have looked EVERYWHERE online to find ANYTHING to do with this boat and I have searched "Powercat" "Power Cat", Power Cat Marine" "Powercat Boats" ... and every combination thereof!

Any and all help would be certainly most appreciated.

Re: Powercat Boats

Tash,

Thats NOT It! I actually talked to a couple people in reference to that page and they told me that company quit making boats BEFORE my boat was made! Either they're telling the truth or I have a different boat from a different boat company but the title says "Powercat".

I don't think your PowerCat is related to the PowerCats build in Texas in the 1960's. Ray Leger sold the company in 1972 and the history stops there.
What does the transom tag say?

Re: Powercat Boats

This is an old thread, but maybe I can shed some light on this.
Your boat is a Power Cat. In 1979 the company was still selling boats..
My dad Ray Leger did sell his interest in the company in 1970 but the
new owners did continue producing and selling boats into the late 70's.
The period between 1970 and 1979 we call the "Green" years after the
principal of the company AC Green. After 1979 the molds went to the
Cano's and boats were produced and sold as late as 1986 still under
the same Power Cat name. 1979-1986 the "Cano" years.
So I would say yours is a Power Cat 23v Sabalo from the Green years.
