powerhead assembly help - 2002 Evinrude 225 FICHT

Ok, so I have the crank and connecting rods re connected. I have the lower housing plate connected and I'm about to mate the crank case cover. My question is do I attach the stator before I put the two halves together or after? I can't remember what I did first when I took it apart. I do have a manual but it basically sucks and doesn't give me a step by step procedure.

gotcha thanks. Do you know if im supposed to put any gasket sealant (whitch btw was a pita to find the right stuff in Canada) on the lower plate where it bolts to the block? The manual says to put it on the o rings but doesn't say anything about the plate.
