My Orig OMC Manual states 1993 115hp crossflow PH gasket goes on dry.

Why does every one I see, have orange RTV or some other material on them? Just curious.

I'm ready to put my had back on a rebuilt Exhaust housing, Swivel assembly and want to be sure it dont leak.
I have a original OMC new replacement, which doesnt appear to be impregnated or anything.

Thanks.

I would call a local BRP dealer and ask them; but the one I put on my Johhny went on dry. The exhaust plate gasket had to have a OMC dealer. Good luck

I just redid the gaskets on my 77 70HP Evinrude. I used PERMATEX Aviation Form-A-Gasket Sealant on all of mine.

It doesen't hurt to be 100% sure. :)

If the gasket says "use no sealer" on it you put it on dry. If not, use OMC gasket sealing compound or Permatex # 3.

If its a OEM gasket put it on dry as its silicon impregnated, if a aftermarket use a sealer.....

Thanks all. Yes OMC branded. So I guess it will go on dry, Dont want to have to pull it again. Just might do a very thin layer of #3 to be safe.

Thank you

UPdate:

The OEM gasket was several pn's back in revision and didnt say "no seal" or anything on it. I used Permatex #2 very thinly, and let it cure several days after assembly.

Test started today, and seems good. Monitoring.
