Hey folks, anybody know what years of powerheads and mid sections are interchangable on 200 hp omc 90 degree looper. I just put a 1987 johnson 200 gt powerhead on my 1990 evinrude 200 xp midsection I am also using the lower end off the johnson. Running good on the hose muffs but I am not getting any water up in the powerhead. I installed a new water pump still no water.I fear i will have to take all back apart and swap over The exhaust housing adapter. does anyone know if this is my problem. any other suggestions. any info would be great. before I take all apart again!!

Re: powerhead interchangability

It'll work just fine. All you're doing is going from a big bore to a small bore looper. They're directly intechangable. No need to change the mid.

How long are you running the motor? It takes a while to get the block filled. If you're concerned about the pump, pull the lower unit and stick a water hose directly on the pipe.

Re: powerhead interchangability

Sometimes it takes a minute or so for the water to come out the overboard indicator steadily. Should have been the same with your old powerhead.
