I am at the point where everything is off the block and I even have the block seperated but can not figure out how to get the carb side of block off so I can get to connector rod bolts. I thought it would just slide off but it seems to be hitting this oval rubber encased part that I think is bolted somehow to plate that block sits on. Do I need to lift block up to clear that or what?

Re: Powerhead removal force 1984 50hp

If I understand correctly, The engine is stuck on the upper motor mount and will not come off the leg. There are two bolts in the center that hold the front plate to the upper rubber motor mount. It is best to remove all the bolts on this front plate but the two in the center hold it to the rubber and the others hold it to the engine block.

Once the block is free. then there are two bolts inside the aluminum motor mount housing which must be removed in order to split the crankcase halves.
