I got my 1990 60hp re honed due to some light scratching after the horn went off. I replaced the rings too. After i re assebled it the crankshaft turns but it is pretty tight. , heres what i did and what's happening.

I stripped it down again and made sure all bearings were in the dowel pins , i then put on the bottom bearing seal and held the crank in place , lightly attached the flywheel and the whole thing spun easily , no problem there. I then re sealed and joined the crankcase , torqued it all down and again it turned over very freely. Once I tighetened the lower bearing seal housing in place the whole thing tightened up and the flywheel was req more force to turn over. I loosened the lower seal slightly and tapped it out a tiny bit and it all freed up again. So there must be something going on here, bottom bearing is in it's correct spot.

Any suggestions please..

anyone wanna give it a go ?? I hooked jumper cables up to the car in case the battery was weak but it still turns slow and under pressure to spin the flywheel.

Any chance the crankshaft got bent while it was out? Dropped?

Problem spotted i hope... I stripped it down again and was meticulous in going over the whole thing and i noticed that i had one of the center main bearings was on upside down..... i am an idiot i know ... I checked the journals to make sure that they weren't blue or something on the original strip down and must have put it back on the wrong way, never spotted it at all on the last strip down...

Now that dowel pin is pushed in flush with the block, i guess that i'll drill it out and replace ?? don't really want to chance doing this myself so i think i'll bring it off to a shop to have them do it..

lesson learned hope other people do too from reading this......
