I have a 1975 Merc 1150 motor that has a bad powerhead...i also have a 1978 Merc 1400 that has a good powerhead...so i pulled the 1150 powerhead and installed the 1400 powerhead on the 1150...the powerhead swap went well, but here's my question: at the very bottom of the powerhead base (starter side) where the powerhead meets the exhaust plate there is a little corner of the block casting that protrudes out past the gasket surface...this little corner of the block looks like it is resting on one of the phillips-head screws that is used to hold down the front lower cowl seal...this is a very hard area to get into to really get a good inspection, plus i got rained out today...im concerned that the powerhead is not seated fully because of what appears to be an interference fit there...Any help is appreciated!
