Hi everyone,

Just wondering if anyone has done this before. I picked up a motorguide SW109HB DIGITAL with 60" shaft for half price (450.00) 1 year old, my boat is currently wired for 24 volt. Running this motor at 24 volt, I know that you wouldn't get the full output of 109 ft/lbs, but would this affect the motor and ruin it or would it just run at a slower speed? I didn't want to add the extra weight of the battery but might have to do it. Couldn't pass up the deal.

Thanks

Rob

Gotta go 36V with that motor....Running 24V will probably burn up the board and speed controller....

Also be sure to swap out your existing wire for larger wire.......

Thanks guys,

As I thought about it during the day, the extra battery should not be that much more weight. I would like to enjoy the full power of the trolling motor. I have 6 gauge marine wire going to the bow (Bluewave 190 Classic). That should still be strong enough.

Thanks

Yea.....6 Guage will be fine...Make sure your connections are good....

The extra power is always good to have if your boat can take the extra weight.....Its good to know your safe in the wind if you have outboard problems.....

jtexas,

I usually keep the other one's as backups, but I do have a good selection of Minn Kota and Motorguides (bow and transom mounts), sometimes I loan them out.
