Powerpack capable of ruining coils?

Hey guys, I got my 25hp 86 johnson running smooth, but I wanted to ask a little question before I sell someone a bad powerpack. I had a bad coil, replaced it, and then still had a bogging problem, which I falsely diagnosed as a bad powerpack (it was an air leak). Thus, I have two powerpacks. The powerpack works fine off the start. I know electrical units sometimes fail under heat. What I want to do is put my old coil back on my boat engine to test it and make sure its functional under use, so that I feel comfortable selling it. After all, the coil failed last year after half a day of fishing/running around, and the boat wouldn't run on the other cylinder for enough time for me to make it back to the ramp(it eventually just wouldnt start) My question is, if it is faulty under heat, can it ruin any other parts to my engine? like say the ignition coils?

anything that puts out voltage to other electrical components can potentially harm any other components in the chain. more frequently though something just dies and doesn't take other things with it. just throw it back in your motor and if it runs fine put it up for sale and don't lose any sleep over it.
