The motor head/surrounds under the cowl are a little dirty and I want to clean it up. I have heard you can power-wash these with a high pressure hose etc (with care).

Is this advisable to do? and what precautions need to be taken etc? I would re-grease all points as required following that of course.

Re: Powerwashing power head?

I wouldn't do it. I clean my powerheads with some engine degreaser and paper shop towels. To get into the recesses, I usually use screwdrivers of various sizes, with a wad of the towel wrapped around the end.

You will not end up with a spotless engine using my method, but it will be clean enough for most people's needs.
