I am new to putting my boat in and out of the water and all that jazz. I bought this boat that's got an electric winch, specifically the PowerWinch model 912. It came with this plug, pictured below. I know what to do, you know, like wire positive/negative, but I am also looking for the easiest, cheapest, and reliable way to power this thing up. Here are some facts and like requests or concerns:
It has one of those quick disconnect plugs (I guess?) that you can find online for like $3 for one end. Now, I am taking a guess that these plugs are both male and female? Like one plug will be one side and the other side is the exact same plug and they will both work together.

Here is a site that I thought had a good deal, but I don't think I want it that to be permanently mounted by my trailer lighting like wrapped up. I would then have to uncoil it, hook it up to the winch, and then recoil it. I would rather plug in that wire below as a bridging circuit.

Its got to have an amperage protection.
I think my easiest way out is buying a quick disconnect, about 15 feet of 2 or 0 gauge red wire, about 2 feet of 2 or 0 gauge black wire, a battery connection, another loop connector for the ground, some fuse device, and I already got zip ties.
After talking/typing this out, I am feeling better about my go forward plan. There are obviously powered winches out there, please let me know if I am going the wrong way.
Here are my concerns:
1) I really don't think I should have to use a heavy 2 or 0 gauge, I think 6 is the maximum for those quick disconnects.
2) Are breakers real things? (All these websites, like that link above, talk about breakers not fuses - ...replacement cost?)
3) How am I going to prevent an always hot point at the end of the quick disconnect? 12V will always be there whether I want it to or not.
Thank you for the help.
