As you know, I am now in Ghana. Got an email from my wife yesterday - FIL was rushed to the hospital. He had the cancer surgery a while ago and was starting Chemo a few weeks back. Apparently the chemo made him so sick that when he vomitted he tore his diaphragm and his small intestines had come through. So this morning, with a low white blood cell count and blood thinners still working he was going under the knife. Have not heard anything, but at 82 years of age any surgery is touchy and there are a lot of complications with this one.

It is a bummer to be on the other side of the globe when your soul mate (my wonderful wife) could use the comfort and support. Please keep us all in your prayers.

Re: Prayers requested

This just in from my wife:

Just wanted to let you know that Dad is out of surgery and back in a room on the 7th floor. I don't know if that is ICU or not but he isn't in the recovery place where he was last year .... of course, this wasn't anything like the surgery last year. One lung was slightly collapsed so they were going to watch that carefully to see if they had to put a tube in or not.

Sonny seemed to think he looked pretty good. It took about 3 or 4 hours I guess. They were able to do it all laproscopically, too. So that is all I know for now. I'll keep you informed as I find out stuff. Thanks for all the prayers!

Prayers said. Laporoscopy is a good thing. Just maybe two or three small incisions and the bleeding will be much easier to control. Even though he's on warfarin (or other) there are counters to it that I'm sure they employed. I hope he has a successful and speedy recovery.

Re: Prayers requested

What more could you ask for Art. You have a bunch of rowdy boaters that would rather fight than switch ANYTHING, pulling together, praying and posting for the best outcome possible. Including me, and all the ones that don't post a reply but wish they did.
Best of luck.
