I have two boats a 1982 wellcraft with twin 350's and pre alphas

the other is a 1983 chris craft with alpha one gen 1. will the whole pre alpha swap onto the chris craft?? or will the lower, lower units swap. The alpha lower is shot and i'm looking for a cheap fix til i can get a new one. Any help would be great. Both boats have gm 350's

The whole unit, yes....
The lower lower, probably not ...
It depends if you have a preload pin on the old one....
If it does, it will not work....
That boat would not be a 210 Scorpion with the round back seat & the sun platform over the engine, would it?.......:)

Both of those outdrives should have the preload pin on them, I think. The last time I took apart a pair of '83 alphas, they both had the preload pin, if I remember correctly.

I'd Still swap them out as a Drive for a Drive,.........

If the Lower is Shot,.......... All them Grindings have Filled the Upper as Well..........

So I could just swap the whole drive. They have the same bolt pattern?
I don't know if the lower is really shot, but I pulled the drain plug and about a cup of water came out, not good.

Yep, it's shot, Like bondo said the grindings from a bad upper are in the lower also.
