Pre-Alpha replacement, worth it?

I have a 140 with a prealpha outdrive. This is a 69 starcraft. Is it just easier to replace the outdrive with an alpha 1 or something newer? Or just rebuild what I have? Is it hard to get parts for the pre alpha?

Thanks Tail Gunner, so your saying just replace the original. right? No need to update a more modern outdrive.?

the SEI unit is a knockoff of an Alpha 1, which is a newer style drive, but compatible with some earlier drive systems. Contact them with your numbers and make sure their unit will be compatible with your gimbal housing
