Pre Alpha Shift Cable Replacement Question

From what I've seen so far, I can find no replacement for the pre-alpha shift cable other than buying an alpha shift cable and making the required adjustment to the bell housing to accept the threads of the new alpha shift cable. Is this anyone else's eye view or is there a pre-alpha shift cable available somewhere, even if not OEM. Are most shops knowledgeable enough to know about and how to make the switch over from the pre-alpha to alpha shift cable?

I don't know if anyone makes the old style cable anymore......
The modification to the bell housing is not that hard & is outlined in detail in manual #6.......
Any Merc. guy worth his salt should be able to do it....​

Thanks! I'm going to order the alpha kit and then (hopefully) its just a water shutter left and she's ready for a test ride.
