Hello everybody found a super nice boat for its age its a 1977 stingray 185 has a pre alpha outdrive with a 140 mercruiser, skeg is a bit beat up I have a rebuilt alpha one from my previous boat that I knocked in the head and parted out. I was wondering the alpha one drive I have is from a 1980 with a 140 mercruiser, would this outdrive bolt up and function without modification? All the research I found basically states they're the same but the alpha one is a lot stronger, that's about all I could find on comparison on Yahoo couldn't find a good thread on iboats from doing a general search. I'm sure this has came up multiple times but I was unable to find a good pre alpha vs. Alpha one thread any input?
